She's bad, she's bold, she's mean and she's on the scene. She's Marlena, with her new flip side radio single. The first song on the new CD is It's A Man's World, recorded by Mr. Please, Please, Please, Godfather
of Soul hinself, Mr. James Brown, on King Records in 1968. Marlena sings her heart out with this tribute to the hardest working man in show business who has always been one
of her favorite entertainers. Having lived in New York City in her younger years, she went to see James Brown in concert at the Apollo Theater, in Harlem,
New York. After the show, she sneaked backstage to meet and talk to Mr. Brown. This was a high point in her young life, and he inspired her in her own quest
towards pursuing music. Recording It's A Man's World years later really means the world to her. Marlena feels that she has done this song justice, and that the people will
love it the same way she loved singing and recording it. It's A Man's World is a super, strong, forthright rendition, with the mellow guitar licks played by Warren Carr, out
of Louisiana. Even though the song is a hot classic from the past, Marlena hopes to bring it up to the present all over again and make it happen. Recorded on Bogue/Magic City
Records, located in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and produced by Herschel Dwellingham. On the flip side of this CD is a hot blues tune entitled Bed Time Story, written by Marlena and Herschel Dwellingham.
"Have you seen your baby yet?" is the question Marlena is asking all of you ladies out there, on this red-hot blues tune. This song is mellow, yet sassy, down and dirty,
with that Southern Soul flavor, and that Bogue/Magic City sound. Her voice is strong and clear and is getting down with the get down. That gut-wrenching singing guitar
sound by Warren Carr puts the cap on it and brings it on home. Bed Time Story is a bad mam-a-jam-a and gets it on with the real deal. It's blues at its' best. Marlena
is really on to something with her message to the female population and she loves to do material and write material that always has a hint of reality and truth. You'll enjoy the
message and the music. Co-produced by Marlena and Herschel Dwellingham for Bogue/Magic CIty Records, with that Magic City sound, awesome! It's A Man's World
and Bed Time Story are two great songs. You will really enjoy listening to them. This CD is smokin' !!!. Marlena, you go, girl. Ann Sowell
